The Cream Event | Austin, Texas

Last weekend, the ladies of Bash, Please put on their now-annual Cream Event (formerly known as "Hitched") in wonderfully hip Austin, Texas, and we were lucky enough to be able to skip on over to the Lonestar State and check it out!  And let me tell y'all, we've come back to our neck of the woods with suitcases full of inspiration and ideas for our 2012 (and a truly unhealthy obsession with breakfast tacos, to boot).

Cream is a carefully curated wedding showcase, a sort of intimate expo for the local area's cream of the crop in wedding vendors (hence the clever name).  There's music, food, drinks, dancing (dancing!), beautifully styled tables, flowers galore, a fashion show, featured photographers, paper arts -- basically, the works.  It's rather like being a guest at the hippest wedding ever. Here are some of our favorites from the party.  Enjoy!

A gorgeous table styled by The Nouveau Romantics.

100 Layer Cake was there!  Bringing the pretty, as ever.

Food!  I told you there was food.  Delicious, adorable food.

Really adorable food.  Too adorable to eat?  Hahahahahaha no. Not possible. Courtesy of Bake Sale.

The photobooth:  it speaks our language!

Incredible local bluegrass band The Lost Pines.

 Flowers and decor galore.

We even got to put together our own little bouquets using buckets of florals provided by The Byrd Collective!  It was like being a kid in a . . . well, in a flower store!

Thanks for having us, Austin!

YEE-HA & much love,

Chic and Affordable- What More Could a Girl Ask For?!?

With multiple cable shows devoted to it, and numerous tears (both happy and...well...disappointed) shed over it, the search for the perfect wedding dress has taken on a life of its own.  But I am here to say, ladies, we can find that perfect dress without spending half a year's salary, countless hours and many dressing rooms visits with our mothers/aunts/sisters/bridesmaids on an item we will only wear once and send to the dry cleaners to be preserved FOREVER.

There are numerous loopholes to the wedding dresses search, be it wedding dress rental, sample sales, or bridal outlets and today's blog post is devoted to one of my favorite loop holes- a website called BHLDN.  Brought to you by the same folks who brought you Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie as well as many other labels devoted to carefree and bohemian attire and house goods, BHLDN seems to have it all- stylish and affordable wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, accessories and wedding party decor. About 98% of the wedding dresses are under $5000, and about half of those are under $2000 and beyond stunning.  Here is a line up of my favorite looks from their current line of wedding and party dresses:
