The Cream Event | Austin, Texas

Last weekend, the ladies of Bash, Please put on their now-annual Cream Event (formerly known as "Hitched") in wonderfully hip Austin, Texas, and we were lucky enough to be able to skip on over to the Lonestar State and check it out!  And let me tell y'all, we've come back to our neck of the woods with suitcases full of inspiration and ideas for our 2012 (and a truly unhealthy obsession with breakfast tacos, to boot).

Cream is a carefully curated wedding showcase, a sort of intimate expo for the local area's cream of the crop in wedding vendors (hence the clever name).  There's music, food, drinks, dancing (dancing!), beautifully styled tables, flowers galore, a fashion show, featured photographers, paper arts -- basically, the works.  It's rather like being a guest at the hippest wedding ever. Here are some of our favorites from the party.  Enjoy!

A gorgeous table styled by The Nouveau Romantics.

100 Layer Cake was there!  Bringing the pretty, as ever.

Food!  I told you there was food.  Delicious, adorable food.

Really adorable food.  Too adorable to eat?  Hahahahahaha no. Not possible. Courtesy of Bake Sale.

The photobooth:  it speaks our language!

Incredible local bluegrass band The Lost Pines.

 Flowers and decor galore.

We even got to put together our own little bouquets using buckets of florals provided by The Byrd Collective!  It was like being a kid in a . . . well, in a flower store!

Thanks for having us, Austin!

YEE-HA & much love,

Estoria Social on Every Last Detail

I finally caught up with all things post Thanksgiving and am excited to share this shoot that was featured on Every Last Detail on Thanksgiving day!  My sweet friend Robin Nathan asked me to create a concept for a styled shoot and model, and since styled shoots happen to be one of my faves I just had to say yes.  The best part about this shoot was working with my honey, Clint, the most reluctant model of them all.

Here are some of the shots!

Thank you to an overwhelmingly talented group!

Fabric, Fabric Everywhere!

Oh fabric how I love thee...I must have been a tailor in another life.  Nothing pleases me more than seeing traditional wedding items woven (pun intended) together with fabric details, or any textile for that matter. There are some very cool ways to stitch your style (ok promise that is my last one) with fabric and textiles and the examples below are my short list of favorites.

#1 Hanging Decor: I think it is pretty safe to say, I love anything that can hang from the rafters and make a statement.  From fabric and Mylar fringe, delicate fabric pennants and banners and pretty fringey garlands, I am easily pleased by their soft colors and the right amount of sweetness they can bring to an otherwise blank canvas.  Kinda girly, super festive, and completely customizable, this is my favorite way to use fabric.

#2 Invitations: Imagine your guests opening your save the date or wedding invitation, and saying "my this is a lovely keepsake, I have never seen this before!" You are sure to get that reaction with a fabric invitation or save the date that has been hand stitched or printed on linen.

#3 Bouquets/Flower Arrangement: Perhaps a more literal interpretation of using cotton in the bride's bouquet.  I adore the way these fluffy, cottony balls create shape and texture.  And the couple will certainly have this bouquet as long as they both shall live!

#4 On the Dessert Table:  A little bit weird and a little bit wild, these little treats are great keepsakes for guests.  Knitted fabric in fun colors gives the dessert table an exciting pop and are a simple DIY project for the craft inclined.  I just love the adorable and realistic details.

Thanks Bode!

These little gifts here go out to one Stacey Bode. She is all around awesome and also, as you know helped make this website come alive with her amazing pictures.  Gotta love them. If there is one thing I know about Ms. Bode is she loves her some pancakes- so much so, she expresses her love for pancakes on all her social media sites. So here is a little fast DIY thank you I whipped up with some pancake ingredients, mason jars left over from our shoot, and my fave little card stock notes cut with a corner rounder.  Thanks to my mom for finding all that Martha Stewart Craft ribbon for $1 at Michaels.

Monday Morning Man Post

Menswear on a wedding day is usually a simple choice, and since it is Monday, and no one wants to process anything overly complicated, I think today will be a posting for the dudes.  Or for the ladies to show to their dudes.

Many men can carry off just about anything, including flowers, with the right amount of confidence, but I cannot help but to think that roses or other singular flowers just aren't right for a man's lapel.  Something about it is reminiscent of high school prom, and just plain boring.  This morning is an homage to creative, personalized takes on the boutonniere.  Typically, the men walking down the aisle, have some flower that matches the table arrangements or the bride's bouquet.  The men below have something completely different.  Enjoy your Monday morning...time for me to get another cup of coffee.

1.  Buttons! This cute, crafty piece is perfect for the DIY or more casual wedding

2.  Still a little flowery, but completely off the beaten path, this baby's breath would looks striking against a dark colored suit jacket.

 3.  Scrabble and keys and buttons oh my!  I loved the personalized touches with the first letter of the groom's name from the Scrabble box.

4.  Packed with creativity and kind to the wallet, these pinwheels are a perfect pick me up to a traditional suit.

5.   Nothing but a pocket square- classically clean, and still a great pop of color.  This groom matched his pocket square and tie to his brides shoes.

Inspiration

I am always amazed at the creativity housed in the minds and bodies of my friends.  So many of them are working on DIY projects for their homes and weddings, and today's inspiration comes from a friend. This project is brought to you by Maggie- lawyer by day, amazing crafter whenever possible.  These served as her hostess thank you gifts for family and friends who planned her wedding shower.  She made and canned the jam, purchased vintage handkerchiefs and twine and topped it all off with a stamp from Paper Source.  Enjoy this yummy treat!

Matt and Jess Get Married~ 5 Seasons Brewing Company, Westside

Behold! The beautiful images from Matt and Jessica's wedding at 5 Season Brewing Company Westside, courtesy of Robin Nathan Photography. From the moment I met Matt and Jessica, I thought, oh wow how can I make this couple into my friends?!  From their amazing literature theme to Jessica's creative eye, I just fell in love with every aspect of their wedding design.  Their wedding was sweet, intimate, and lovely and their guests really got to see a reflection of who they are as a couple. They would not be foiled by rain, and the dancing didn't stop all night long!
