Spring Wedding Trend We Love

It might only be February, but we cannot help but notice that the days are getting a little longer, there are tiny buds on the trees and the air in Atlanta smells just a little sweeter.  Spring, is that you poking your head around the corner?  We think so.  With our wedding season starting in March, we thought we would bring you one of our favorite spring time trends - paper flowers.  Now, we know that these guys have been around for a while, but we are seeing more life-like paper flowers covering archways for ceremonies, standing in the backgrounds for photo booths, and creating a colorful wonderland that sets a new tone for the reception.  Here are a few of our favorite spring paper flower looks:

The Cream Event | Austin, Texas

Last weekend, the ladies of Bash, Please put on their now-annual Cream Event (formerly known as "Hitched") in wonderfully hip Austin, Texas, and we were lucky enough to be able to skip on over to the Lonestar State and check it out!  And let me tell y'all, we've come back to our neck of the woods with suitcases full of inspiration and ideas for our 2012 (and a truly unhealthy obsession with breakfast tacos, to boot).

Cream is a carefully curated wedding showcase, a sort of intimate expo for the local area's cream of the crop in wedding vendors (hence the clever name).  There's music, food, drinks, dancing (dancing!), beautifully styled tables, flowers galore, a fashion show, featured photographers, paper arts -- basically, the works.  It's rather like being a guest at the hippest wedding ever. Here are some of our favorites from the party.  Enjoy!

A gorgeous table styled by The Nouveau Romantics.

100 Layer Cake was there!  Bringing the pretty, as ever.

Food!  I told you there was food.  Delicious, adorable food.

Really adorable food.  Too adorable to eat?  Hahahahahaha no. Not possible. Courtesy of Bake Sale.

The photobooth:  it speaks our language!

Incredible local bluegrass band The Lost Pines.

 Flowers and decor galore.

We even got to put together our own little bouquets using buckets of florals provided by The Byrd Collective!  It was like being a kid in a . . . well, in a flower store!

Thanks for having us, Austin!

YEE-HA & much love,

Preppy Inspiration

Apologies for being so out of the blogging loop lately.  Last week I had a big photo shoot and lots of time consuming projects that left little time for anything else.  Enough excuses- here is something bright and cheerful to lift our Monday spirits.

This morning, I found out that I am assisting on a prep-inspired photo shoot that calls for"vintage, but not too much vintage."  I love prep, and I love vintage, and I think simple elements can often come together for an unforgettable look.  Think stripes, bows, bold reds, blues, yellows and greens.  This season I found myself drawn to Tommy Hilfiger's fall collection "Family Album", which normally elicits a raised eyebrow from me.  I loved the comfortable materials, mixed with sleek colors and impeccable tailored jackets.  I think this calls for an inspiration board- don't you?

Color Boards- Yellow and Gray

I am home in the blustery north for the next few days and cannot help but look to the elements for some color inspiration.  The sky is overcast and gray, and there are just a few yellow flowers left in my mother's garden that will soon molt their petals in preparation for winter.  Yellow and gray can make for a beautiful fall, winter, or spring palette depending on the richness of the yellow and if you choose cool gray or toasty yellow as your dominant color.  Here are a few variations on the color combo for your Friday afternoon!
